Las Vegas Monorail Extending to Mandalay Bay

The Las Vegas Monorail Company is developing an expansion of the Las Vegas Monorail system that will connect Las Vegas Strip locations and improve mobility and access within the resort corridor. The project, an extension of the existing line to the Mandalay Bay and Luxor resort and convention campus, will significantly improve connections for the more than 42 million annual visitors without affecting existing roadways. With more than 6 million of these visitors here to attend conventions, meetings and trade-shows, direct access between hotel rooms and major convention facilities is critical to address the unique travel needs within the resort corridor.

Once completed, the project would expand the system to a 5-mile long system with 8 stations, directly connected to 11 resort properties, 35,000 hotel rooms, two event arenas, hundreds of dining, retail, gaming and entertainment venues as well as both the Las Vegas Convention Center and Mandalay Bay Convention Center – two of the ten largest convention facilities in the United States, significantly improving mobility and benefiting air quality.

The expansion project is recommended and included in the RTC’s Transportation Investment Business Plan (“TIBP”), the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance’s (LVGEA) Community Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) and by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) Transportation Steering Committee.
