NASCAR officials met in Las Vegas today to announce that Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be getting a second Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race for the 2018 season and beyond.
NASCAR Cup drivers Kurt and Kyle Busch along with Brendan Gaughan were in attendance, along with NASCAR officials, Speedway officials and representatives from the Las Vegas Visitors and Convention Bureau (LVCVA).
The new race will take place in late September, 2018 and will accompany the regular race that happens at LVMS in early March. This weekends race will be the 20th year that NASCAR top series has competed in Las Vegas.
The new September event will feature a weekend of 3 races, the NASCAR Truck, Xfinity Series along with Cup racing. The March race also features all three events, so this will make the first time in NASCAR history that a single city has hosted all three races on two separate dates.
