LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV Football team will stage its annual Spring Showcase presented by Wingstop from noon to approximately 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The public is invited to attend the free, family-friendly event, which will again be held on campus at UNLV’s soccer complex at Peter Johann Memorial Field. The soccer stadium, which has seating for more than 2,000 fans, is located near the intersection of Swenson Avenue and Flamingo Road.
The showcase, which will feature a controlled situational scrimmage, is the final of 15 spring practices staged by the Rebels under third-year head coach Tony Sanchez.
Gates open at 11 a.m. and in addition to raffles and trivia prizes, a free Kids Zone will include bounce houses and a skills area. Fans can also purchase their new season tickets on-site and save $15 off the regular prices while those renewing their season tickets at the event will receive $20 off per ticket. The first 1,000 fans through the door can pick up a special “50 Years of Rebel Football” poster as well as a UNLV schedule magnet, courtesy of Wingstop.
Concessions featuring Smokin’ Sams will be available for purchase and fans are invited to meet the players for photos and autographs on the soccer practice field after the scrimmage ends. Fans not able to attend can listen to a special two-hour show from the Showcase via AM 1400 KSHP, thanks to sponsor Findlay Toyota in the Valley Automall. Former UNLV head coach Harvey Hyde will join Tony Cordasco and Tyler Corder broadcasting from the event. The show, which will air live from noon to 2 p.m. and then be replayed from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, will include an interview with Coach Sanchez reviewing his team’s spring performance.
Before heading in the Spring Showcase, fans are invited to attend the biennial UNLV Athletics Apparel Sale from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. just yards away at the North Gym inside the Paul McDermott Physical Education complex on campus. The event will feature official men’s and women’s team apparel, including game uniforms, jerseys, warmups, coaching shirts and athletic shoes, as well as other memorabilia for sale.
