Rebels Win Big Over Eastern Washington

LAS VEGAS ( – Four Runnin’ Rebels scored in double figures led by junior guard Kris Clyburn’s game-high 19 points as the UNLV men’s basketball team (3-0) defeated Eastern Washington, 91-76, Friday night at the Thomas & Mack Center. 
Freshman forward Brandon McCoy added 17 points and eight rebounds, senior guard Jovan Mooring scored 15 points and junior forward Shakur Juiston recorded his third double-double in as many games with 13 points and a game-high 18 rebounds. Juiston also dished out a game-high-tying six assists.
EWU (2-2) was led by Bogdan Bliznyuk’s 16 points.
SHOOTING PERCENTAGE: UNLV shot over 50 percent for the game for the third time in as many games this season. The Runnin’ Rebels were 31 of 57 from the floor vs. the Eagles for 54.4 percent.
PERIMETER DEFENSE: The Runnin’ Rebels held Eastern Washington to just 21.4 percent from 3-point range, including 12.5 percent (1 of 8) in the second half.
STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV shot 56.7 percent (17 of 30) from the floor in the second half.
RUNNIN’ REBEL OF THE GAME: Clyburn only missed one shot as he was 7 of 8 from the field, including 3 of 4 on 3-pointers. He also had three assists, three rebounds and a steal in 26 minutes of action.
QUOTABLE: “We could have done a much better job of finishing the game, but you play to win. After that you want to make sure you are still taking steps to get better. Getting Kris Clyburn going was critical for us. I knew it was going to happen, I just didn’t know when. He just played hard and did a good job.
